Because it is not a state, DC does not have full congressional representation. Instead, D.C. elects two “Shadow” Senators and one “Shadow” Representative. DC’s Shadow Senators are different from traditional Senators that represent a state – they do not hold a seat within the chamber, but rather work towards recognition of statehood for the District.

In fall of 2023, Ankit Jain reached out to me to create a website that mirrored the logo he already had. Ankit is a young progressive, so I wanted his website to represent that. I aimed to create something that felt youthful and different from traditional campaign websites, utilizing bold typography and colors, and elements of collage. I also utilized lines and shapes from the logo on the headers to connect the two.

This website has helped the campaign to set a cohesive brand in place while simultaneously reaching thousands of DC voters and educating them about what a Shadow Senator is and why they should vote Ankit Jain.
